Rockchip RK28 and RK29

The first is Rockchip, which has RK2806, RK2808, RK2818, Rk908, RK2918, and a series of main control chips for MID products. Among them, the RK28 series adopts 65nm process, generally combined with the ARM9 architecture. The basic features of the RK28XX main control product are ARM9, Android 2.1, 256M DDR2 RAM, the main frequency is about 600MHz, and it supports 720P high-definition video decoding. Mainly used in early 2010 or relatively low-end products, such as Blue Devils early MID product W7, Taipower T720 Wi-Fi, etc.

Samsung S5PC110/S5PV210

At present, products using S5PC110/S5PV210 processors mainly include Samsung i9000 (mobile phone), Samsung Galaxy Tab (tablet computer), and Meizu M9. At present, the prices of products using Samsung's main control are relatively high. Recently, some new mid-range tablet products have begun to use this type of processor.

Samsung Hummingbird S5PC110/S5PV210 processors are based on Samsung’s 45nm LP low-power process technology and an ARM Cortex A8 processor running at 1GHz. S5PC110 is mainly for handheld communication products such as smartphones, while S5PV210 is mainly For tablet/netbook products. S5PC110/S5PV210 has a built-in 3D graphics engine-PowerVR SGX540, which can well support 3D games. In addition, the processor also has a built-in 1080p HD decoding engine that can perform HD video playback/recording at a frame rate of 30fps.

Texas Instruments Series

Texas Instruments OMAP4430/4440 also uses 45nm process, but the core is upgraded to Cortex A9 1GHz/1.3GHz dual-core + Neon. Support PowerVR SGX540 3D acceleration. The OMPA44 series upgrade is still very obvious, there is an obvious experience in the main frequency, and the graphics performance will also be significantly improved.

Texas Instruments OMAP3430 is produced by the world's veteran semiconductor company and adopts a 65nm process. It is the industry's first application processor integrated with the ARM Cortex A8 superscalar microprocessor core. This master control enables the ARM Cortex A8 to not only meet the power required by the handheld terminal, but also speed up the user connection and data access speed and promote production and entertainment applications on mobile phones. In addition, OMAP3430 can add multi-standard, DVD-quality camcorders to phone applications for the first time.

Texas Instruments OMAP3630/3640 uses a 45nm process, which is still the 800MHz/1GHz Cortex A8 core, which is basically the 45nm version of OMAP3430, and the upgrade is not big. Thanks to the improvement of the main frequency, the performance has been further strengthened. At the same time, due to the adoption of DDR2 memory, the performance of the 3D part has also been better released, reaching twice that of the OMAP3430.

Telechips Full HD Master Control

The new master is relatively upgraded, but there is no obvious upgrade of RK29 and RK28. It can also be said that TCC89XX itself is relatively good, and the upgrade space left is not large enough. However, it can be seen that after the master control is upgraded to 1GHz, the overall performance of PCB design training will also be comprehensively improved. For example, the 1080P decoding will be upgraded to 50fps, which will better support the Android 2.2 system. Moreover, in accordance with the usual style of Telechips, the TCC88 master The controlled price will be very affordable.

Compared with the RK28 of the same period, it is slightly better. The disadvantage is that the software optimization is general. Although the performance parameters look good, the actual performance is not satisfactory. Representative models include smart device MID products, Cube U6, etc. At the same time as Rockchip RK28XX is the Telechips TCC89XX main control, which is most commonly used in various products of smart devices, 65nm process, usually combined with ARM11 architecture, Android 2.1 system, the main frequency is generally 720MHz. The highlight of this chip is the ARM11 architecture and 1080P full HD decoding, which supports 3D better.

Telechips TCC8902 and TCC8803 are upgraded versions of TCC89xx series, which upgrade the ARM core to Cortex A8, the main frequency is increased to 1GHz, and the 45nm process is adopted. And it will provide better full HD decoding support, and the decoding capability has been improved to 1080P 50fps.

NVIDIA Tegra 2

Nvidia (NVIDIA) Tegra 2 processor, manufactured with a 40nm process, integrates 8 processors with different functions, mainly including: two ARM Cortex A9 cores, running at 1GHz. In addition, there is an ARM7 processor, an audio processor (Audio Processor), an image processor (Image Processor), a HD Video Decode Processor, and a HD Vide Encode Processor, A graphics processor (2D/3D Graphics Processor). Tegra 2 supports H.264 format video with 1080p resolution and supports OpenGL ES 2.0.
