PCB News - How to check short circuit and improve PCBA quality

In the manual welding process of SMT patches, short circuit is a common phenomenon of poor processing in PCBA manufacturer. In order to achieve the same effect of manual SMT patches and machine patches, short circuit of PCBA solder joints must be solved. Short circuit PCBA can not be used. There are many methods to solve short circuit in SMT patch processing.

1. The manual welding operation shall form a good habit. Use a multimeter to check whether the key circuit is short circuited SMT patch. After each IC is manually SMT patch, use a multimeter to measure whether the power supply and ground are short circuited.

2. Light up the short circuit network on the PCB diagram, find the place on the circuit board where the short circuit is most likely to occur, and pay attention to the internal short circuit of the IC.

3. In the SMT chip processing, if there is a short circuit in the same batch, take a board to cut the line, and then energize each part to check the short circuit part of the SMT chip factory.

4. Check with short circuit positioning analyzer.

5. If there is a BGA chip, because all solder joints are covered by the chip and cannot be seen, and it is a multilayer board (more than 4 layers), the power supply of each chip is separated and connected with magnetic beads or 0 ohm resistance in the design. In this way, when there is a short circuit between the power supply and the ground, the magnetic beads are disconnected for detection, and it is easy to locate a chip.
