Introduction to Insulation Resistance Test
The insulation resistance tester can be used to determine whether the windings or cables in motors, transformers, switchgear and electrical equipment are intact. The specific test method depends on the type of equipment to be tested and the reason for the test. For example, if the test object is a cable or switchgear (low-capacitance device), the time-varying capacitor leakage current and absorption leakage current are insignificant, and they drop to zero almost instantaneously, and a stable conduction leakage current is obtained immediately (within one minute), which is convenient on the spot. Take a reading or perform a short-term impedance test. On the other hand, if the device under test is a long cable and the time-varying current can last for several hours, this type of current will cause the meter's readings to change frequently, which is not accurate enough. If the step voltage or dielectric absorption test is used, it can be summarized The change trend of the reading can be improved. This type of test does not focus on a single reading, but draws conclusions based on a series of related readings. Since the time-varying current of a low-capacitance device is fleeting, and the measurement results are basically the same, it is a waste of time to perform this test on a low-capacitance device.
Installation test
The main purpose of insulation performance testing is to ensure the safety of the public and people. The high-voltage DC test between the uncharged current-carrying conductor and the grounding conductor can ensure that there is no fatal short circuit or grounding short circuit in the circuit. This type of test is generally carried out after the equipment is installed. It can identify wiring errors or equipment abnormalities, ensure the quality of the installation, customer satisfaction, and prevent accidents such as fires and electric shocks.
Maintenance test
Another purpose of insulation performance testing is to protect electrical systems and motors and prolong their service life.
