The difference between PCB using flying probe and test frame
The scope and introduction of flying probe test in PCB production
The flying probe tester uses 4, 6 or 8 probes to perform high-voltage insulation and low-resistance continuity tests (testing the open and short circuits of the circuit) on the PCB circuit board without the need for test fixtures. It is suitable for testing small batch samples. Generally, the "true value comparison positioning method" is used to monitor the test process and fault points in real time to ensure the accuracy of the test.
Minute hand test
The general procedure of flying needle machine test:
Read the data at the flying probe workstation - after converting the test files of the flying probe tester, produce the first piece - collect capacitance and resistance data - start production
advantage:
1. High test density, the smallest pitch can reach 0.05mm or even smaller
2. No fixture cost
3. More suitable for proofing
4. The cost of proofing is lower
shortcoming:
1. High test pin breakage rate
2. The test speed is relatively slow
3. Withstand voltage cannot be tested, high-level high-density board testing has greater risks
4. Not suitable for batch testing
5. The test accuracy rate is not as good as the test stand
6. Rebate will be charged again
The application scope and introduction of the test frame used in the production of PCB circuit boards
The test frame test method is one of the commonly used PCB circuit board testing methods in the PCB industry. It relies on the test frame (ie fixture) to test whether there is a short circuit between the different network traces of the PCB, and whether the same network of the PCB is open or passed. Whether the hole is open, the insulation strength test and impedance test can also be performed. Its notable feature is the extremely high test speed and accuracy.
Generally speaking, a finished board that is qualified by the test rack means that the quality is up to standard.
Test stand
Test rack test procedure:
Test frame on the machine-Use aluminum sheet to simulate full short circuit test-Use conductive film to simulate full open circuit test-Take good product board to learn and test-Ensure that the test frame probe (i.e. loop) has no abnormalities- Load production
advantage:
1. High test accuracy
2. Fast testing speed, suitable for batch testing
2 Batch testing, only one test rack is needed, and the cost is lower
3 One-time charge, no extra charge for rebate
shortcoming:
1. You need to pay for the first production of the test stand, and the price varies from factory to factory
2. Not suitable for proofing test
In general, flying probe testing is more suitable for small batches, and test rack testing is suitable for testing large-volume circuit board production. The price of the test rack is more expensive, and the price charged by each manufacturer is different. It is recommended to test the PCB circuit board production. Use the test rack to ensure the quality!
