Most people have some incorrect operations when soldering FPC connectors, resulting in relatively large component loss. It is possible that with the continuous development of FPC connector technology, everyone still lacks knowledge about the welding method of FPC connector and the principle of FPC connector structure. So I will share relevant knowledge with everyone.

One: Check before welding operation of fpc connector

1. Insert the plug of the soldering iron into the specified socket and check whether the soldering iron is hot. If it is found that it is not hot, first check whether the socket is properly plugged in. If it is plugged in, if it is still not hot, report to the relevant technicians. Individuals cannot disassemble the soldering iron at will, let alone touch the tip of the soldering iron directly with their hands.

2. Then check if there is water and clean the soldering sponge. If there is no water, please add an appropriate amount of water. The sponge should be cleaned. Dirty sponges containing metal particles or sulphur-containing sponges will damage the tip of the soldering iron.

3. The oxidized uneven or hooked soldering iron tip should be replaced. Replacement requirements: First, it must ensure a good heat conduction effect.

Second, we must ensure the quality of the welded object. If a new soldering iron tip is replaced, the maintenance paint should be wiped off after heating, and tin maintenance should be added immediately. The cleaning of the soldering iron should be carried out before the soldering operation. If the soldering iron is not used for more than 5 minutes, the power supply must be turned off. The sponge should be cleaned. Dirty sponges containing metal particles or sulphur-containing sponges will damage the tip of the soldering iron.

Two: welding skills of fpc connector

1. The peripheral components of the fpc connector should be clean. If there are debris around, clean them first, and then proceed to the next step. The material is preferably tin-plated to facilitate soldering.

2. If the fpc connector component is a new component, there is no need to perform peripheral processing, because the new component pins of the connector are all soldered, so they can be soldered directly.

3. The soldering iron must be tinned first, which is conducive to heat transfer. (The role of the electric soldering iron: used to weld electronic components, hardware wires and other tools with metal objects.)

4. After the component is perforated and perforated, first talk about the Luo iron close to the pin, the solder wire touches the heating part of the Luo iron, and after it has melted, move the solder wire around the pad. (The role of solder wire: to meet the electrical conductivity requirements of the components on the circuit and the fixing requirements of the components on the PCB board.)

Three: welding method of fpc connector

Step 1: First prepare a piece of scrap wire. Note that the wire cannot be a single wire. If it has multiple wires, generally 0.5 square wire is the best.

Step 2: Next, peel off a short section of the wire, about 1CM, and stick some flux (pine perfume, solder paste, or liquid flux can be used) on the copper wire for later use.

Step 3: Apply a thin layer of tin evenly on the pad, taking care not to have a short circuit.

Step 4: Then use the soldering iron to tin the holder first, then fix a foot with the soldering iron of the cutter head, and then brush some soldering paste, apply the soldering iron tin sponge cleanly, and flatten the pins.

Step 5: Clamp the connector with tweezers, align the pin and pad position, and solder any pin of the connector with a soldering iron.

Step 6: The pins on each side must be soldered 2 or 3 times, which can help the pins and the pads to be fully connected.

Step 7: Finally, solder the remaining pins one by one. Note that the tin on the soldering iron tip should not be added. When melting the tin, make sure that the soldering iron tip has a thin layer of tin (the soldering iron tip can be on the soldering table). Tap it a few times) so that the welding is done.

The last thing to say is that although the fpc connector is easy to use, small in size, high in precision, and excellent in resistance to tortuosity. But the price is still not cheap. Therefore, the loss still has to be controlled. As long as everyone pays attention to the welding method of the fpc connector, the loss of the FPC component can be reduced.
