They are widely used in microwave communications, 5G, and military radars. There are a variety of different performance plates to choose from to meet different options for different applications.
Rogers 4003 material excellent high frequency performance
Rogers sheet RO4000 PCB materials series and Rogers 4003C have industry-leading high-frequency performance, with the characteristics required for microwave radio frequency circuit, matching network and specific impedance transmission line design.
Among them, Rogers 4003C thermoset laminate is a better performance and higher reliability alternative to FR-4, with low processing cost and low loss. Can use lead-free soldering process, compatible with FR-4 processing technology. Very suitable for applications such as small base stations, antenna systems, and the Internet of Things.
Rogers 4003 High heat dissipation capacity
The low-cost 92ML series PCB materials laminate in Rogers board has a Z heat conduction rate (2.0 W/mK) 10 times that of FR-4, which can provide high heat conduction for multi-layer printed circuit board (PWB) applications that require the entire board to dissipate heat characteristic.
In addition, RO4000 series PCB materials products provide a dielectric constant of 2.55~6.15 and a low Z-axis thermal expansion coefficient, and have better heat treatment capabilities than traditional PTFE materials. Among them, RO4835® laminates have added antioxidants, which have 10 times higher oxidation resistance than traditional PTFE materials, and are suitable for applications that require higher stability at high temperatures and more oxidation resistance than standard radio frequency thermosetting materials.
Rogers 4003 price Low processing cost
The RO4000 series PCB materials of Rogers sheet has high machinability and low processing cost, and is a cost-effective solution for high reliability applications. Compatible with FR-4 processing technology (including PCB multilayer board structure) and lead-free soldering process.
The TMM series PCB materials can use standard PCB substrate processing procedures and has obvious processing advantages; it is resistant to chemical reagents and has no damage in the production and placement process. It is an ideal choice for high-reliability ribbon wire and microstrip line applications.
Rogers 4003 Highly mechanical
The RO4000 series PCB materials of Rogers Sheets are thermoset microwave laminates with excellent mechanical properties and resistance to creep flow and cold flow.
RO3000 laminates have stable and consistent mechanical properties under different dielectric constants. In the design of multilayer boards, materials with different dielectric constants can be used on different layers without bending and reliability problems. Among them, RO3003 also has the lowest loss of 0.0013 (@10GHz) among commercial grade materials, which is very suitable for mass production.
Rogers 4003 PCB
Rogers RO4003C PCB is a patented hydrocarbon resin system / ceramic filler reinforced by woven glass cloth. Its electrical properties are very close to PTFE / glass cloth material, and its machinability is similar to that of epoxy resin / glass cloth material. This material can provide different structures. RO4003C Rogers PCB has two different types of glass cloth 1080 and 1674, but all structures meet the same electrical performance specifications of laminates.
Rogers RO4003C PCB can adopt standard epoxy resin / glass cloth processing technology, while providing strictly controlled dielectric constant and loss, while its price is a fraction of that of traditional microwave materials. It is not even necessary to carry out the process of through-hole treatment of PTFE based on special materials.

Rogers 4003 vs 4350
RO4350B and RO4003C of Rogers are very mature products. The dielectric constants of RO4350B and RO4003C are unchanged. The manufacturing process values are 3.48±0.05 and 3.38±0.05, respectively. The design values are 3.66 and 3.55. The dielectric constants vary with the frequency, so it is necessary to design simulation according to the actual application frequency. The material characteristics can be referred to data table RO4000 series high frequency circuit board materials.
RO4003C hydrocarbon ceramics cannot directly replace the RF module design of RO4350B hydrocarbon ceramics. DK and DF Rogers 4003 and RO4350B are inconsistent. Direct substitution will lead to the change of 50ohm microstrip line width and the increase of output loss. Software simulation design modification based on the dielectric constant and insertion loss of RO4003C is needed before the board can be completely replaced.
Rogers has completed detailed internal certification of RO4003C and RO4534 LoPro copper clad sheet materials manufactured in eastern Suzhou, China. The identification includes electrical, mechanical and thermal tests. We can confirm that the test performance and quality parameters of the materials manufactured in Suzhou are in accordance with our existing published specifications. Therefore, 0.5 ounces of RO4003C and RO4534 can be shipped using materials produced by ROGERS at a manufacturing plant in Suzhou, China.
From the electrical parameters of Rogers 4350 and Rogers 4003, Rogers 4003C is superior to Rogers 4350 in terms of loss factor and dielectric constant temperature coefficient.
RO4350B is UL certified, while RO4003 is not. Therefore, for projects requiring UL certification, RO4350B is recommended. Roger 4003C has a buried board available. Details can be found in Rogers 4003 Datasheet

RO4003C is a patented glass fabric reinforced hydrocarbon resin system/ceramic filler material introduced by rogers. Its electrical performance is very close to PTFE/woven glass fabric material, and its processability is similar to epoxy resin/glass fabric material. Rogers 4003 offers tightly controlled dielectric constants and loss at a price that is a fraction of that of conventional microwave materials and does not require special pre-plating or operating procedures. It is one of the most stable products in RO4000 series with very low dielectric loss.
Multichannel 24G vehicle flow monitoring radar enables multiple sending and receiving, provides more than four sets of positioning data, makes the location information more accurate, and makes the traffic statistics of each lane more accurate. It is recommended that Rogers 4003 be used for high frequency plate, which can reduce cost, have higher antenna gain, lower system loss of high frequency circuit, improve product performance and improve the monitoring range of multi-channel monitoring radar.
The use of Rogers 4003 microwave plate in the antenna unit can reduce the loss and improve the antenna gain. The dielectric loss of Rogers 4003 is only 0.0027. Using 0.5m m thick Rogers 4003 PCB plate, calculated by MWI2018 software, the overall loss at 24Hz frequency is about 19.8dB/m, of which the dielectric loss is 9.26dB/m and the conductor loss is 10.6dB/m. With Lopro copper foil product of Rogers 4003, conductor loss can be reduced to 2dB/m, while Rogers 4003 dielectric loss is almost unchanged.
Using Rogers 4003 in the communication unit, by reducing transmission loss, it can increase the reception gain, reduce system noise, increase transmission power, and overall ensure the good performance of the communication unit.
Rogers 4003 has a dielectric constant of 3.38 and a dielectric loss of 0.0027, which meets the low loss requirement for 24GHz radar band applications.
