The concept of FR4 fabric glass

FR4 fabric glass refers to a fabric woven from glass fibers. It has insulation, thermal insulation, corrosion resistance, non combustion, high temperature resistance, high strength and other properties, mainly used as insulation materials, reinforced materials for fiberglass, chemical filter cloth, high-pressure steam insulation materials, fireproof products, high elastic transmission belts, building materials, and wall coverings.

Types and uses of FR4 fabric glass

FR4 fabric glass is a fabric made from glass fiber, which has high strength, heat resistance, corrosion resistance, and other characteristics. It is widely used in various fields and can be divided into the following categories:

1. Rove glass cloth: used to strengthen building materials, road surfaces, asphalt roofs, insulation materials, etc.

The function of FR4 fabric glass

1. Mechanical properties

FR4 fabric glass has high tensile strength, which is related to fiber diameter, fiber length, and alkali content. The finer the fiber, the higher the strength, and the shorter the fiber, the higher the strength.


2. Permeability

FR4 fabric glass is a cylinder without capillary tissue, and the fiber itself cannot be soaked in water and resin. In order to improve the permeability, an increase in the surface area of the adsorption resin is adopted.


3. Dielectric performance

The dielectric properties of FR4 fabric glass are related to the alkali content. An increase in alkali content leads to a decrease in surface resistance and an increase in dielectric loss. The effect of alkali is more significant at high temperatures and humidity, but the dielectric strength of glass fiber is good.


4. Thermal performance of glass cloth

Alkali free glass fibers have high heat resistance and stable mechanical and electrical properties below 200 ℃.


The thermal conductivity of glass fiber is small and almost independent of its diameter, but the thermal conductivity of glass fiber fabric increases with increasing capacity. However, the thermal conductivity of glass cloth is related to the thickness and standard weight of the fabric.


5. Chemical corrosion resistance

FR4 fabric glass dissolves organic solvents and has strong resistance to mold, moths, bacteria, and decay.
